Funeral Services

Funeral services were held in January, 2022 in Bowie, MD, followed by a service at Fr. Lincoln Cemetery. The extended family thanks all those who were in attendance to honor the memory of our father, as well as to those were were unable to make it..

Online Wake Service

Family and friends were invited to join us for our Online Wake on Saturday, May 20 at 2 PM Eastern for prayer and the sharing of memories of our Dad.

We recorded the service in case you were unable to join us, and will post a video soon.

We plan to have an in-person funeral service in Washington, DC when appropriate.

We share the sad news that our father Frank Francois passed away on February 17th, 2021. Dad has enjoyed his years of retirement, especially time with his children and grandchildren, as evidenced by the many pictures posted over the years on his Facebook page.

We celebrated Dad's 87th birthday from a distance in January, visiting with Dad via Zoom and telephone and singing him "Happy Birthday." Dad had been under hospice care for some months. Around Christmas he was ill with COVID, but had recovered. In recent days, Monica was able to sit with Dad and share our love from all corners as he made his final journey.

We know that our Dad lived a good and full life. From raising his five kids with his beloved wife Eileen, to his later in life act as Grandfather to seven, and all the good work in between on behalf of good government and transportation, he shared his gifts widely.

In 2011 Dad published his memoir, Me? I'm From Iowa. He ended the book with these words:

“In my many speeches across the nation I often closed with an old Irish blessing. Let me do the same here:

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again may God hold you
In the palm of his hand.”

Dad's journey is now complete.

We invite you to leave a note in the online memory book.

We will hold an online Wake service, with prayer and sharing of memories of our Dad, on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2 PM Eastern.

Blessings of Peace,

The Francois Children

Joseph, Marie, Michael, Monica and Susan
